Where do we come from?
We, Secrid founders Marianne and René, have our roots in fashion and design. Between 1990 and 2009, we developed hundreds of products for diverse markets in Europe and the USA with our design agency SPIRID. From telecom to medical. From car seats to toys. An inspiring experience.
With the invention of our first cardprotector, the Bodycard, we laid the foundation for Secrid in 1995. We still combine our decades of experience in fashion and design to develop high-quality sustainable pocketwear. Products that we manufacture almost entirely in the Netherlands. Only for some special leather types and specialized components do our buyers travel to Belgium, Germany, or Italy.
Purpose
In the past centuries, the Industrial Revolution brought the world not only great progress but also serious problems. Designers and manufacturers bear significant responsibility in this. As long as they prioritize financial interests, nature – and with it humanity – will suffer. Fortunately, awareness is growing worldwide that this must change, and Secrid wants to show how this can be done differently in a commercial business. Secrid believes in Industrial Evolution, inspired by nature, where abundance is based on sustainable balance. If every innovation is an improvement, the world can ultimately regain its balance. How we work together
Since our launch in 2009, we've experienced turbulent growth. From start-up to scale-up. From three people to over a hundred. Enthusiastic go-getters. A dynamic team where young starters work closely with experienced specialists. All people who give the best of themselves based on their own expertise and our shared purpose.
We've also made conscious choices in how we're organized. We work in a self-organizing way, with Holacracy supporting us with a clear company structure. We also pay considerable attention to the undercurrent alongside the surface level, including through systemic work.
