Where do we come from?
We, Secrid founders Marianne and René, have our roots in fashion and design. Between 1990 and 2009, we developed hundreds of products for a wide range of markets in Europe and the USA through our design agency SPIRID. From telecom to medical. From Maxi Cosi to Quooker. An inspiring experience that laid the foundation for our vision on quality, sustainability, and relevant design.
With the invention of our first cardprotector, the Bodycard, we laid the foundation for Secrid in 1995. What started as a design idea evolved into a revolution within a product category and ultimately into an international brand, now available in more than 8,500 selected stores across over 90 countries. To this day, we continue to combine our decades of experience in fashion and design to develop high quality sustainable pocketwear. Products that are almost entirely produced and assembled in the Netherlands, in collaboration with sheltered workshops. Only for a small number of special leather types and specialized components do our buyers travel to, among others, Belgium, Germany, and Italy.

Our mission is to shift industry’s focus from producing more to producing better, a transition we call the Industrial Evolution. Our guiding principle is simple: every new product design should be better than its predecessor.
We are best known for our iconic wallets. Designed to last, made with care and loved worldwide. Most production happens in the Netherlands, with nearly all suppliers based in Europe. This keeps transport emissions low and supports local craftsmanship.
All our wallets are assembled in sheltered workshops in the Netherlands, where 150 skilled workers who face barriers to the labour market bring pride and precision to the assembly of every product. With 1,400 Care & Repair points worldwide, our pocketwear can be repaired again and again, staying in use for years.
And we look beyond our products. Each year, we invest 1% of our revenue in the Secrid Impact Fund, supporting designers who, like us, use design as a force for good.

The Industrial Revolution brought unprecedented progress, but it also left lasting scars. The depletion of nature, a loss of balance and a system in which financial growth often outweighed long term value. Designers and producers play a key role in this. When profit becomes the sole point of departure, the world ultimately pays the price.
We believe there is another way. With Industrial Evolution, we consciously choose a new model, inspired by nature, where growth emerges from balance and every innovation is a genuine improvement. Since our launch in 2009, we've experienced turbulent growth. From start-up to scale-up. From three people to over a hundred. Enthusiastic go-getters.
